How we rank products
Every rating on this site is computed from the data below — the same method for every product, recomputed whenever prices or specs change. Retailers cannot pay for position, and commission rates play no part in scoring.
The factors
- priceVsBand
- Value for money: the cheapest live price against the category's median price.
- footprintEfficiency
- Space efficiency: sleeping area delivered per cm² of floor footprint.
- storage
- Built-in storage: drawers, ottoman lifts or trundles.
- spec
- Specification breadth: desks, slides, trundles and other built-ins.
- safetyCert
- Stated safety certification (we never infer this — feed or manually verified only).
- availabilityBreadth
- How many retailers currently stock it — broadly stocked products are easier to actually buy at a fair price.
The weights
“small-room” comparisons
For small rooms we weight footprint efficiency highest (usable sleeping area per cm² of floor), then value for money, safety certification, built-in storage, and how widely the bed is stocked.
footprintEfficiency 35% · storage 15% · priceVsBand 20% · safetyCert 15% · availabilityBreadth 15%
Default
Our default rating weights value for money and specification equally, then safety certification and how widely the product is stocked across retailers.
priceVsBand 30% · spec 30% · safetyCert 20% · availabilityBreadth 20%
What we won't score
Safety certification is only ever shown when a retailer feed states it or we have verified it manually — we never let software guess at children's product safety. Products missing data score neutrally on that factor, not zero, and never get invented specs.
