FAQs

What fence panel styles are there and which lasts longest?
Lap (overlap) panels are the budget standard; closeboard/featheredge is stronger and better for windy or boundary fencing; slatted and hit-and-miss panels trade some privacy for looks and wind resistance. Pressure-treated timber with a 10–15 year anti-rot guarantee outlasts dip-treated at any style.
Do I need concrete or timber fence posts?
Concrete posts and gravel boards keep timber off the wet ground and outlast the panels themselves; timber posts look better and are kinder to drills and fixings but are the first thing to rot. Either way the posts, not the panels, decide how long the fence stands.
Timber or composite decking?
Timber is cheaper per board and can be sanded and re-oiled; composite costs more upfront but skips the annual maintenance and keeps its colour. Check stated board thickness and joist spacing either way — thin boards on wide joists bounce.
